DEBOX is a Cologne based record label focussed on techno and house. The idea behind DEBOX is to spread our vision of quality underground dance music. We are not going to participate in any trends or hypes but be open minded for all varieties of electronic music.
For our ninth digital output we have signed croatian sound architect Karlo Bumbic who adds three top notch tracks to our catalogue. Coming along deep and dark, garnished only with sprinkles of light this ep takes us on a meditative journey through a labyrinth of sound dominated by heavy kicks, strong basslines and spherical sound design.Remixes are supplied by Croation Duo Dominik Dragicevic & Marko Delina, Leo Cubanero and Fabian Bussmann. The Track Pan’s Labyrinth was produced by Mladen Jovicic aka Silhoutte.
Calculated Panorama by “Cologne’s best kept secret” Helmut Lawrence is our summer tune for 2011. The refreshing cool piano anthem will surely cater for many happy faces during this year’s open air season. With remixes by the Indian high flyers Jalabee Cartel, Cologne space veteran Mathias Schaffhauser and minimal mastermind Breger you can’t go wrong with this incredible release. Hearing is believing. Word.
Jalebee Cartel has challenged the notion that dance music is a Western domain by single-handedly putting India on the international EDM map. Composed of four members, Arjun Vagale (laptop, mixing, electronics), Ash Roy (vocals and percussions), Ashvin Mani Sharma (laptop and synths) and G-force Arjun (bass guitar), Jalebee has been taking India by storm for over five years. From individual DJ sets to live gigs, producing to composing, the multi-talented group does it all.
The live act features Jalebee’s own compositions, which are broken up, twisted and served fresh with ethnic sounds thrown in for good measure. It’s a funky, international sound that’s unlikely to be recognized as Indian. The live element creates an extra edge that is constantly evolving, a potent, energetic livewire of influences from house to techno, overlaid with live vocals, percussions, drums and tablas. Jalebee’s sound isn’t about neat packaging: it’s about fusing genres to create a raw, electric style of urban dance music.
2010 has been Jalebee’s most massive year yet. The group has performed at the hottest clubs and biggest festivals across India and abroad, including Fusion Festival (Germany), Tresor Berlin (Germany), Smirnoff Experience Festival (Mumbai), Lille 3000 (France), The Big Chill Festival (Goa), SunBurn Festival (Goa), Perrier Chill Out Festival (Dubai), C/O Pop Festival (Germany), Paradiso (Netherlands), Juicy Beats Festival (Germany), Chi Club (Dubai), in addition to gigs in the US, Canada, Sweden, Indonesia and Korea. They clocked over 120 performances in 2009 alone.
Jalebee has hit dance charts worldwide, with their track “Apartment 88” hitting No.1 on Pete Tong’s Bedroom Bedlam Chart, “Destiny” voted Best Sunset Soundtrack on BBC and numerous Beatport hits, with “Funkin A” (Aki Bergan Remix) peaking at No.4 on the Deep House Charts. The group has numerous releases, previous and forthcoming, on labels like Ostwind Records (DE), Neurotraxx Deluxe (IT), Vapour Recordings (AU), eVapour8 (AU), Save Room Records (DE), Baroque Records (UK), Mashtronic (EU), Frequenza (IT), ALiVE Recordings (UK), BEEF Records (CH) and System Records (US), to name but a few.
Radio shows from Argentina to Europe to Indonesia feature Jalebee tracks on stations like BBC Radio, Proton Radio, Pulse Radio, Virus (CH), DI FM and Dance Radio GR. With two monthly shows, “Deep Fried Jalebee” on Frisky Radio and “Twisted Sweet” on Dance Radio (Greece), Jalebee brings in over 3,000 monthly listeners. The group has been featured in Rolling Stone (India), MixMag (UK) and DJ Mag, and featured in Elle (India) magazine’s ‘Hot 100 People, 2007.’ They’ve seen phenomenal support from A-list DJs like Pete Tong, Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink, Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Sharam, Nick Warren, Moshic, Kasey Taylor, Hernan Cattaneo, Dave Seaman, Nic Fanciulli, Jimpster, Tom Budden, Anil Chawla—and even Apl De Ap from the Black Eyed Peas.
If being the first artists in India to release an album on USB memory sticks and streaming their gigs live on the Internet wasn’t enough, their music video for the track “Tough Cookie” hit the charts on VH1 with full force, and their first full-length artist album titled ONEPOINTNOTHING debuted in 2009. The album and music video were both critically acclaimed.

House in A Livingroom – Jacked Beat EP (DEBOX007) incl Pier Bucci Remix
Our seventh vinyl release features the long awaited debut EP of the Berlin based project House In A Livingroom. Clicking beats, lots of groove and mesmerizing vocals are the key ingredients for “Jacked Beat”, a reduced, funk loaded, jackin’ house track. House in A Livingroom is formed by producer Leo Cubanero who has already delivered stunning releases on Labels like Textone and Festplatten and Vocalist Rebecca Metternich who adds her clear emotional voice to the ensemble.
The flipside features a remix by Chilean producer Pier Bucci who reduces the vocals and enhances the mix with fat analog drums as well as the track “Push me” which actually would have been worth a release of it’s own.
The digital edition contains an additional live mix of jacked beat.
It was a sunny day in springtime when Rebecca Rotlicht walked into Leo Cubaneros apartment to create some groovy tunes. From the beginning it was clear that they ara a perfect match. For one year they spent lots of hours in Leo’s living room, producing, singing and having fun making music. The results are loads of banging tracks. To describe their style of music – it has a lot of funk, rocking beats, fancy chords and of course Rebeccas clear emotional voice. Over the time, they have also become a massive live act, which they stunningly proved during our recent 3 years of mayhem party. Their appearance on our 3 Years DEBOX compilation will only be the starting shot for a number of extraordinary releases -we have their first EP at the ready and a lot more slated for release.
Notes:On January 15 the DEBOX crew will take over Essen’s GOLD CLUB to celebrate the debut release of HOUSE IN A LIVINGROOM who will play their first gig ever in the Rhur Area. The duo from Berlin will be supported by FABIAN BUSSMANN from the Cologne headquarters and Essen based DEBOX artist Georg BREGER. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for some serious rave action!
Mission accomplished! For the final chapter of our anniversary sampler M.E.M.O. & Tatalone, Christian Quast, Courtis, Breger and Danito have gathered to blow your mind with some bad-ass techno. December 3 exclusively on beatport
You all know M.E.M.O. from his stunning Remix of Christian Schwarz’s “Before You Told Me” – so let’s learn a little more about his buddy Tatalone:
Juan Antonio Fuster Tatalone aka Tatalone (Palma de Mallorca 1984) is a lifelong fan of electronic music. He started DJing in the year 2000 at the “Deià crew” parties in Mallorca.
With contacts already under his belt, he co-founds the “Bassment Club” to reshuffle the island’s approach to music. Thanks to him, previously unknown artists come to Palma, such as M.A.N.D.Y., Tiefschwarz, M.I.A. Steve bug, Dfa, Mike Vamp, and an interesting etcetera.
After two years he moves to Madrid to broaden horizons. There he holds a monthly residence at different clubs across the city, including Cool Ballroom and Kathmandú.
His style, influenced from the start by grass-root electronic music, fuses the latest techno, electro, minimal and electro house trends.
Two years later he sets up home in Barcelona to learn all about musical production, studying a four-year Audio Engineering course at the SAE. This gives him the base to really get going, DJing in a range of Barcelona clubs (City Hall, Lotus, Nick Havanna, Hotel ME, etc.). He also has the chance to perform in clubs in Panama, Malaga and Seville. ( Sala eventual “Mad People”(Málaga), NEW SFX FESTIVAL @ IT’S AMAZING ( Sevilla), Buzz club ( Panama)
In Barcelona he meets M.E.M.O, his current sidekick, building a major friendship and an excellent working relationship. Both start producing tracks with a fusion of styles that certainly leave their mark. Tatalone’s patience and elegance and M.E.M.O’s beats, vast experience and born talent make this duo a true bombshell.
After 4 years in Barcelona he decides to head back to his home town where he gets back in touch with childhood friends Pig&Dan, who he has constantly worked with since 2008. Thanks to this, his tracks have been played at Cocoon @ Amnesia, and he has produced several tracks with them.
He still lives in Mallorca, where he is resident DJ at several clubs (Titos, Cassette, etc.) and is working with a range of record companies such as Myth Records, Boayer Records, and so on.
He lists his influences as: Pig&Dan, Guy Gerber, Patrick Chardronnet, Sebastián Roya, M.A.N.D.Y. vs. Booka Shade, Depeche Mode, and Richie Hawtin, to name just a few.

Christian Quast, producer of Nouvelle Series MINIMAL HOUSE.
He originates from Hamburg | Germany and is label owner of Salto & Modulator Recordings. Previously he has released works under the labels: BPitch Control, Safari Electronique, Ironbox Music, Neopren and Zyx Music. He received overwhelming support from top Djs like Sven Väth, Ellen Alien, James Holden, John Digweed and Radioslave. His style evolves to a mixture of experimental and modern sounds, by combining harder sounds with melodies. The result fascinates diverse walks of people, especially those with more sensitive ears.
Christian Quast found his way to electronic music in the young age of thirteen and back the progress of his music always was one of his major priorities. Additionally he then already experimented with music software on Commodore C-64 and later the good old Amiga 500. Caused by lots of long nights in Hamburgs Clubs, especially the UNIT, his affection to technoid sounds developed more and more and resulted 1991 in first steps to an own music studio.
His style evolved to a mixture of experimental and modern sounds, whereby succeeds surprisingly in combining harder sounds with such melodies, so that the result fascinates a various kind of people also those among with more sensitive ears!
The first live acts came 1995 with the project Aural Seduction and later with Propan. At the same time, Christian was moderator at his German Radio Show RMW (Future Sound of Hamburg Music Works), a broadcasting which run once a month in Hamburg as a popular contrast to commercial programms and to spread the news of the young electronic music szene (1992-1997). Lots of inspiring impressions he may have gotten from their numerous guests: e.g.Azzido da Bass., Tobias Lampe, Stefan Brügesch or Boris Dlugosch. At the same time Christian released his first E.p.- Caustic Expulsion vs. Propan at Maelstroem Rec., a German electronic lo-fi Label, in1997.
There came a time when the broadcast show seemed to be positioned too far away from the generall audience and theTrance -Hype going on in Hamburg, so it was abandoned. Christian Quast had to pause his music interests anyway due to job-related reasons. 2001 fortunately, Christian decided to give room to his own musical visions again and hit off with a solo project. During this time he enthralled with very energetic live acts wich left hardly anybody calm on their seats. He played in famous clubs like the Tresor (Berlin), Phonodrome (Hamburg), Depot (Stuttgart), Golden Gate (Berlin), Chillen & Grillen (Regensburg), Hafenklang (Hamburg) Waagenbau (Hamburg), to name a few. From his early years with electronic music on, he always used music as an expression form for himself, without any orientation on mainstream and is one of the few who manage to fascinate with this instead of becoming just wacky.
Anyway, 2001 also followed the second release and his Radio Show was resurrected. After 1,5 Years Christian stopped producing the Radio Show and started the together with Kai Schöning the Webcommunity “djznet.de”. – but he had to stop his work for this community. On the production side, Christian uses both analog and digital synthesizers and does not want to miss the feeling he has when turning on his analog machines, as well as he loves the infinite possibilities new digital media comes with.
Christian participated in projects like Praefutura, Open Source and Yatsuo Motoki feat. Paul Sanchez Jun. Beneath Dienstag with his jazzy saxophon sounds, Platte 19 with their percussion beats and the great voice of Shiri. In 2005 it was time again to get some new Impressions and new Vibes for a fresh and powerful Future. In 2006 he started his own company “futureaudio.de” – Music Production – in 2007 he started his own Record Label called : “Salto-Recordings” and finally [modulator-recordings] a digital only label.
Since the beginning of 2007 Christian is also working for Europe`s leading Digital Distributor, Believe Digital GmbH, in Hamburg. As a Senior Labelmanager he is mainly responsible for the Dance Department at Believe Digital.
At the beginning of 2010 he met Dr. Motte (Founder of the Love Parade) and owner of the record label : PRAXXIZ. Christian is responsible for the Labelmanagment/ Licensing department of PRAXXIZ.
Quast released so far on different labels like : Safari Electronique, Glückskind Schallplatten, Neopren, Meerestief, IronboxMusic, Kickboxer, BPITCH Control and Zyx Music, to name a few. Be prepeared for new releases and fresh tunes coming up from Christian Quast.

The man behind Danito is Cologne based producer Danny Wendt. It all began in 1993 when Danny started playing with his Amiga computer and one of those legendary four track applications. Inspired by first clubbing experiences with his brother who was already DJing at that time he started copying tracks and step by step developed his own style of treating sound. After purchasing his first synthesizer in ’94 his wish grew to perform his musical ideas as a live act. Under his moniker “Danny-X” he soon began to gather his first live experiences. In `96 he founded the project “MONO-FI” together with a friend and they started touring arounf the republic, playing their first gigs on big events like NATURE ONE or LOVEPARADE – their journey ended in 2002. In 2003 he started his more commercially orientated electro-project “Danny Dynamic”. In the following years, he released on labels like PACHA RECORDINGS, MYLO RECORDS, ELEKTROMUSIKANTEN & OPEN BAR MUSIC and worked as a producer and remixer for acts like ROSENSTOLZ, BARBARA TUCKER, MALENTE, KID CHRIS, ACK & SIMON POINT. Since 2008 he is again focussing on more reduced forms of electronic music and started making a name for himself as a producer for over 20 acts, among them names like ANDRE CROM, EMILL DE MOREU, COURTIS, MARCO ZAFFARANO, MIKE S., MORITZ OCHSENBAUER, releasing tracks on KLING KLONG, STARLIGHT, GET DIGITAL, SUARA, OFF, KINGDOM KOMECUTS, TAPAS RECORDINGS & CIRCLE MUSIC. Since 2009 he is again performing live with his buddy Vito as “VITO & DANITO”
